As the flames soared higher and burnt down the foundations of the facility, Agatha fell to her knees. Her fingers dug into the ground and I could hear her mournful whine above the crackling and chaos. Her life’s work destroyed in minutes. Years disintegrated in moments. It was over.
The heat was becoming uncomfortable so I took a few steps back, snapping Agatha from her fiery reverie. She looked at me over her shoulder. Her anguish dripped from her narrowed eyes and I knew then that I had finally won.
"Do you know what you have done?" She said rising from the ground. I remained silent, unsure of her next move. "You’ll never understand what I hoped to achieve. Never." She turned back to the fire, paused a few seconds and then raced forwards, allowing the flames to engulf her whole.
